SUMMARY:Upcoming Sunday Worship Service
DESCRIPTION:\nSeries Focus – “Unexpected Truths”\nThe Declaration of Independence boldly asserts that certain truths are “self-evident”—accessible to reason and widely recognized by observation. Lutherans note, however, that the Bible’s most important truths are not self-evident at all. They often appear surprising, even contrary to human expectations. Biblical truth is revealed by God, not discovered by reason alone. What seems obvious to human judgment and what God reveals in Scripture are often quite different.\n\nAugust 16            Twelfth Sunday after Pentecost            The Church is for All People\nAugust 23           Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost    The Son of Man is God\nAugust 30            Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost       Cross Comes Before Crown\nSeptember 6        Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost           I Am My Brother’s Keeper\nSeptember 13      Sixteenth Sunday after Pentecost          Forgiveness is for Me\nSeptember 20      Seventeenth Sunday after Pentecost     Grace is Amazing\nSeptember 27      Eighteenth Sunday after Pentecost       Real Repentance Looks Different\n\nService Focus: The Son of Man is God\nJesus asked, “Who do you say I am?” It’s the most important question in the world, and it is a question every human being must answer. The expected answer may be dead wrong. Some in Jesus’ day thought he was John the Baptist. Some thought he was the prophet Elijah who had come back from the dead. Today, plenty of people believe that Jesus existed. They think that Jesus was a wise teacher or a role model for love. Both answers are expected. Both miss the main point. Jesus is a real human being, the Son of Man. He is also Lord and Savior, the Son of the living God. This unexpected truth is the core of saving faith.\nWorship Services are live-streamed and recorded, and available on the Our Redeemer YouTube channel.  If the live-stream isn’t immediately available, check back during the week for the service posting, or go to the Sermon page for links and access to the day’s sermon audio.\n
