Service Focus:
We often divide humanity into groups that don’t truly matter: one ethnic group versus another, men versus women, wealthy versus poor. Yet all are under God’s law, equally convicted of sin, and all will die. Only through faith in Christ is sin forgiven and death’s sting removed. God’s Word creates that faith, but not in everyone; fallen mankind can reject it. Thus, the only distinction that matters is between believers and unbelievers. We long for peace with others, but Jesus teaches that, this side of heaven, it’s a pipe dream. Faith in the gospel brings hostility. Following Jesus comes at a price, yet he promises perseverance will be rewarded.
